These magazines give my students real-world articles that help them practice important reading skills like asking and answering questions and comparing different texts. We also use them for discussions and writing activities. The best part is that the topics are interesting and age-appropriate, so kids are excited to read and learn. It's amazing to see them build confidence with nonfiction texts while having fun.\r\n\r\n Right now, we're doing a novel study of Dinosaurs Before Dark from the Magic Tree House series. One of the TIME for Kids articles was about Mary Pope Osborne, the author of the series, and my students loved it! They were so excited to learn more about her and how she creates her stories. This connection made our reading come alive—they started asking great questions and making comparisons between the book and the article. It's been awesome to see them so engaged and eager to share their thoughts.\r\n\r\n Thanks to your support, my second graders are not just reading—they're thinking, discussing, and connecting ideas in ways that make learning meaningful. After it was put in place, the table was introduced to the students. It was explained to them that the table would become part of their free choice activities during our \"work time\". In addition, they had to understand that only dry erase markers can be used on our new table. \r\nOn the first use of the table the students were scribbling with many different colored dry erase makers.
