I typically fund most of my own classroom supplies, but with rising prices and the need to replace larger items—like calculators—those costs add up quickly. I also love having my students work at the boards, which means I go through markers much faster than a typical classroom. Because of your support, I was able to replace these essentials and keep our learning space running smoothly.\r\n\r\nWhen teaching polynomials, the visual models from the algebra tiles and the display board were incredibly helpful. These tools allowed students to see the math in action truly, and I'm not sure I would have been able to purchase them without your generosity.\r\n\r\nMy students just took their test on these concepts, and many earned their highest scores on the skills they practiced with these hands-on materials. I'm sad that I didn't remember to take pictures of all the amazing work they were doing at the boards, but I've included a photo showing how I was able to place a calculator at each desk and board station, along with fresh markers.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting my classroom and helping my students learn in meaningful, engaging ways.","fullyFundedDate":1755725627084,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-young-mathematicians-tools-f/9526796/","projectTitle":"Empowering Young Mathematicians: Tools for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Orndoff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4354978_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x0,y12&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753978367684","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4354978"},{"teacherId":4354978,"projectId":9519867,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom. All of the resources you provided have been put to great use, and I want to share how much they've impacted my students so far this year.\r\n\r\nAt the beginning of the year, my students were learning about positive and negative numbers. The magnetic number line has become one of our most valuable tools—it allows students to see what happens when they add, subtract, multiply, or divide integers in a clear, visual way. Being able to move along the number line physically has helped so many students deepen their understanding.\r\n\r\nBeyond the number line, the calculators have been used daily. Because of your support, each board station now has its own calculator, making classwork smoother and more accessible for everyone. The games and puzzles you funded have also become a class favorite. Once a month, we have \"Free Friday,\" when students can challenge themselves with logic games and hands-on puzzles. They truly look forward to it, and it's wonderful to see them use their minds in such creative ways.\r\n\r\nI'm especially grateful for the books that helped expand our classroom library. My support class reads for 10 minutes three days a week, and that consistent routine is assisting students to build confidence and see that reading can be enjoyable. Many of my students are developing readers, so this slight daily boost makes a meaningful difference.\r\n\r\nTeaching this support class has been a joy. Watching them grow, learn, and develop their skills has been the best part of my day. The incentive system—earning stamps and choosing prizes—has helped keep them engaged and motivated. I'm also excited to use the algebra tiles next semester when we begin factoring quadratics.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students. The moment they saw the sleek hydrogen-powered car and its miniature fueling station, they couldn't believe they'd be learning with real renewable energy technology. We used the H-Racer as part of our unit on alternative energy and engineering design, connecting what we've studied about clean energy sources to a hands-on, real-world application.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments was when the students successfully split water into hydrogen and oxygen using the solar-powered refueling station. The look of amazement on their faces as the car began to move was priceless. It sparked great discussions about the future of sustainable transportation and inspired students to brainstorm their own clean energy inventions.\r\n\r\nOur next steps involve using what we learned from the H-Racer to design and test model vehicles powered by different energy sources. Students will compare the efficiency and environmental impact of hydrogen fuel, solar energy, and battery power.
