My students are a diverse population of thinkers in an inner-city, high-needs, lower performing NYC public school. Majority of my students have many questions in science, but with limited resources, it is difficult to get them to learn the science; more importantly, my students are often dissuaded from science if they are not actually "doing science." My main goal for this year is to introduce students to models-- how are models used in science? How are they created? What can they tell us about the status of the Earth (past, present, and more importantly, the future)? My school has limited science materials, as compared to other NYC public schools. As an educator, my hope is to get my students interested in careers in STEM-related fields.
