Simple materials like pencils made a huge difference in keeping instruction running smoothly and minimizing interruptions during class. Many of my students come to school without basic supplies, so having enough pencils available meant students could immediately start working instead of losing learning time trying to borrow materials. The guided reading strips were especially impactful for students who struggle with focus, tracking text, or reading stamina. These tools helped students stay engaged while reading and gave many of them more confidence and independence during class activities.\r\n\r\nThe classroom care items also had a meaningful impact on our community. Tissues, hand sanitizer, bandages, and utensils may seem small, but they help create a classroom where students feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. Middle school students are constantly in motion, and having these supplies available helped me respond quickly to everyday needs without students having to leave class. It also helped us maintain a cleaner, healthier classroom environment, which is especially important in a busy school setting.\r\n\r\nBecause of these materials, I was able to spend more time focused on teaching and supporting students academically instead of worrying about missing supplies or managing disruptions. The project helped create a classroom space that is more organized, welcoming, and ready for learning every day. When students know their basic needs will be met, they are more prepared to participate, take academic risks, and stay engaged in their learning.","fullyFundedDate":1767648988546,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-get-essentials/9980349/","projectTitle":"Help Me Get Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Aviles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9168736_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724194239399","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9168736"},{"teacherId":9168736,"projectId":9037615,"letterContent":"My students come into class with very different relationships to reading. Some already love books, but many have never had access to stories that truly feel engaging, relatable, or \"for them.\" Since receiving these new books, I've watched students who normally avoid reading begin asking if they can keep reading after class or borrow books to take home. The books have helped create a classroom environment where reading feels less like a chore and more like something students can genuinely connect to and enjoy.\r\n\r\nThe impact has gone beyond academics. These books have sparked conversations, built empathy, and given students opportunities to see both themselves and others reflected in stories. My students are more willing to participate in discussions, recommend books to each other, and take risks as readers because they finally have access to high-interest, accessible texts. For many of my students, having a book they are excited about is the difference between shutting down and fully engaging in class.\r\n\r\nThis project also helped build a stronger classroom community. Independent reading time has become calmer, more focused, and something students actually look forward to. Seeing students proudly carry around books, talk about characters, and celebrate finishing a novel has been incredibly rewarding. These resources are helping my students build confidence, stamina, and a more positive identity as readers, which will continue to impact them long after they leave my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1742930580035,"projectUrl":"project/an-8th-graders-book-wishlist/9037615/","projectTitle":"An 8th Grader's Book Wishlist","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Aviles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9168736_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724194239399","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9168736"},{"teacherId":9023077,"projectId":9310172,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to my donors choose.
