Our program currently takes place in the gymnasium. Storage for the instruments is a challenge. Having the Violin and Viola and Trumpet Rack would help our us take care of our violins and help them to last longer. It would also teach the kids responsibility by giving them a place to store their violins in a safe place off the floor. Our shows are something our kids look forward to every year. I have included some Latin and Caribbean percussion such as the tongue drum(hand steel drum), Flexatone, Guira and replacement conga head. Many of my students' families come from the Caribbean and it is important to their families to incorporate caribbean and Latin instruments. These are also instruments that are accessible to these young players. Transforming our gym into a theater for the performances is one of my goals for this coming year. I can make our kids experience more special by using our stage to showcase their artwork during the shows. The children draw sets and they are projected behind them during the shows. We currently have no lighting for our stage either. The storage, instruments and stage equipment will transform the gym into a space that students can make music and perform and will help them really shine!
