The visual tools—individual schedules, step-by-step task boards with check-off boxes, and visual timers—have quickly become an essential part of our classroom. My students now have clear, concrete ways to see what's expected of them, which has made transitions smoother and tasks more manageable.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments was when a student independently completed a multi-step activity using the new task board. He proudly checked off each step as he went along, and at the end, he smiled and said, \"I did the whole thing by myself!\" That sense of accomplishment was priceless, and it's exactly the kind of independence these tools make possible.\r\n\r\nThe first time my students saw the schedules and timers, their faces lit up. Many immediately gravitated toward the visuals, pointing out what they were going to do next and using the timers to help pace themselves. The tools gave them a sense of control and reassurance, which has greatly reduced stress and improved focus.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to keep building on this independence. With the visual supports in place, students are learning not only how to complete tasks but also how to organize their time, prepare for transitions, and develop self-regulation skills that will benefit them far beyond our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your generosity—you've given my students the confidence and structure they need to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1746786027955,"projectUrl":"project/clear-steps-confident-learners/9322437/","projectTitle":"Clear Steps, Confident Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Upchurch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7315170_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715117165650","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/upchurch-k"},{"teacherId":7315170,"projectId":9322582,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has become so much more organized! The file folders, hanging file holders, and durable plastic folders have created a system that keeps materials easy to find and ready to use. This has already made a big difference during small group lessons and student projects. For example, when we worked on our latest reading activity, each group could quickly grab their materials without waiting on me to shuffle through piles of papers—saving us time and keeping the flow of learning going.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new folders and holders, they were excited to have their own space for work. Several of them commented that it looked \"like a real office,\" and they love that everything has its own place. The sense of ownership has motivated them to take responsibility for putting materials away neatly.\r\n\r\nWith this new organization system in place, our next steps are to dive deeper into reading and writing projects with more independence. Because materials are accessible and clearly labeled, students can take the lead in preparing for lessons and activities, giving us more time to focus on learning and less time on transitions.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support. Your contribution didn't just provide folders—it gave us structure, efficiency, and pride in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746785788705,"projectUrl":"project/organized-to-support-every-learner/9322582/","projectTitle":"Organized to Support Every Learner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Upchurch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7315170_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715117165650","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/upchurch-k"},{"teacherId":3767822,"projectId":9012354,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom project! Because of you, our students have access to a beautiful new collection of children's literature that is already making a big difference in our reading comprehension lessons.\r\n\r\nThese new texts are helping us explore a wide range of skills—everything from identifying main ideas and making inferences to understanding character development and analyzing themes. Many of the books also support lessons in vocabulary development, text structure, and point of view. Most importantly, they're giving students the opportunity to read high-interest stories that spark meaningful discussions and deeper understanding.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, engaging process. Students participate in guided reading groups, read alouds, partner discussions, and independent reading time. These new books have added so much excitement to our routine—they're always in high demand during choice reading time, and they've become regular go-tos during our comprehension mini-lessons.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have really connected with these new stories. Students who were previously hesitant to participate in discussions now eagerly raise their hands to share their thoughts on characters' motivations. Watching their confidence grow has been so rewarding.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. Your kindness and support have truly brought joy and inspiration into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1742925431858,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-literacy-through-multisensory/9012354/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Literacy Through Multisensory Learning with Children's Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wilcox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3767822_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1548965086420","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3767822"},{"teacherId":9705628,"projectId":8700760,"letterContent":"My students absolutely loved this book. They had a great time thinking about how the animals were personified. There were so many times when the students would be reading and stop to make comments like, \"Can you imagine being in a forest and seeing the animals getting along and being friends with a robot? It would be crazy to see all of the animals building a huge home and living together in it in the forest? I love how they are all helping each other. \" This book created a spark of interest for every single one of my students. They couldn't wait until reading time. \r\n Earlier in the year, my students studied the 5 main types of conflict in stories. We referred back to those lessons often while reading the book. The story is full of disputes such as character vs. character, character vs. nature, character vs. self, character vs. society, and character vs. technology. The students wanted to have a competition to see who could identify the most. That kind of engagement was priceless. \r\n We practiced several writing skills while enjoying the book too. The students practiced citing evidence for their questions, restated the question in their answers, used the new vocabulary within their paragraphs, and utilized their grammar skills often. One of my favorite activities was having them find dialogue in the story and evaluate how it was written. I know my students are better writers because of it. \r\n We also incorporated some science as we read. The students learned how animals camouflage themselves to keep safe. Then, in groups, they created a camouflage for the robot in three different environments. They were very creative with the use of materials and had a lot of fun inventing them. They also built a home that was big enough for Roz and Brightbill. Every single home was unique. We tested the strength of their homes for wind and storm conditions (weight of snow). The kids had a blast discovering whose house was the strongest. \r\n My students enjoyed listening to me read, reading on their own or in partners, but especially, they liked reading in small groups as they discussed what was happening in the book. They had some animated discussions! \r\n One of my girls would squeal when it was reading time. She is an avid reader who loves animals. My students had an entrepreneur day at school. They each created something to sell. She made really cute bookmarks to use with the book. I've included a picture.\r\n Thank you so much for making this possible for my students. I truly appreciate donors like you.","fullyFundedDate":1727488033856,"projectUrl":"project/the-wild-robot-let-your-creativity-flo/8700760/","projectTitle":"The Wild Robot - Let Your Creativity Flow","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Swart","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9705628"},{"teacherId":9577998,"projectId":8472740,"letterContent":"Your donations to our classroom have helped us reduce disruptions and wasting classroom time.
