Due to Covid-19 many group activities and hands-on manipulatives were discouraged because of germs and so on. Now that we are back in the classroom and able to loosen restrictions, I would love to add learning games and hands-on activities back in the classroom. When students have an opportunity to touch, see, process, organize, construct, and play with materials that help them connect a concept to real life, the students are more engaged. Long-term retention is difficult for students who struggle with motivation, but when authentic engagement takes place it leads to true learning and manifests extrusive motivation.
