At our school, we have a time in the afternoon called Blue Jay Time where we break into smaller groups to help the students work on specific skills with others at their level. I have found that they greatly enjoy board games while learning to cooperate, communicate, and read to be able to play. It teaches them to wait their turn, be encouraging, follow directions, and that's in addition to the skill they're practicing! COVID has severely impacted not only our student's basic reading, math, and writing skills, but also their social skills. This is such a fun way of getting them out of their seats, interacting with each other in a positive way and learning.
