All items have been received, put together and are in use and we thank you!\r\n\r\nThe first item that was the biggest hit was the fish floaters. We had students and staff actually stop by to admire them. The calming effect on everyone has been helpful and has assisted over a dozen students in relaxing and calming, making them able to make it through the rest of the school day.\r\n\r\nThe other items such as the times and fluid movers have also assisted students. The timers allow the kiddos to have a visual of how long they can be out of class prior to returning. We see the anxiety released when they can have this visual. The students get excited every time we do it, and they are always eager to participate. I also use it in my small groups to get students more exposure and confidence.\r\n\r\nThis program has helped my students recognize rimes within words, sentences, and texts. Because of this, they are becoming more confident readers and writers. It has also introduced them to common suffixes in a way that is clear and manageable for first graders.\r\n\r\nConcepts that can sometimes be tricky—such as suffixes and doubling rules—are now much more accessible to my students. The quick, consistent routine helps them practice these patterns regularly, and I have seen their confidence grow as they apply these skills during reading and writing.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create engaging learning opportunities and has made a real difference in my students' literacy development. Many of the students in my class come from low socio-economic status (SES) households, which often means they are not afforded the same experiences their peers from higher SES households are lucky enough to experience. As such, it has always been my mission to create positive core memories for my students. Not only do I want them to think of school in a positive way, I want to give them experiences they normally would not be able to have. \r\n\r\nOnly a handful of my students have gone camping, so I knew this project would be hugely impactful. It was like Christmas morning when my students walked into a classroom completely transformed into a campground. The tents I received were set up in a circle- the twinkle lights casting a magical glow through the white canvas. The play logs were circling the play fire. The greenery was drapped all around the room, which really added to the nature effect. The looks on every second grade face when they walked into their magical camping day made the hard work to set it up worth it a million times over. \r\n\r\nThroughout the day, students engaged in camping themed ELA, social studies, and science- based activities.
