Using the new document kits and visual aids, students worked in small groups to \"curate\" their own museum exhibits. One student, who usually struggles to stay focused during long readings, became the lead \"curator\" for his group, using the high-quality reproductions to explain the complexities of child labor laws to his peers. Seeing that level of peer-to-peer teaching was a direct result of having professional-grade materials at their fingertips.\r\n\r\nThe Initial Reaction\r\nThe day the boxes arrived, the atmosphere was electric. Students are used to shared, worn-down supplies, so seeing brand-new, dedicated resources specifically for our history projects made them feel truly invested in. When I opened the first kit, one student exclaimed, \"Wait, these are actually for us to use?\" There was a genuine sense of pride in the room; they recognized that people outside of our school walls cared enough about their education to provide these tools.\r\n\r\nNext Steps: Putting Knowledge into Action\r\nWe are currently transitioning into a deep dive into **Civics and local history**. This project was used through the whole Semester/Quarter in 2025 and really provided a sense of belonging and affirmation to each student. \r\n\r\nAlthough each student had the same instructions, they chose to go \"on their own path\" to creativity. They used all phases to help them reduce anxiety and stress levels most Fridays. They used all four sections, Self Awareness, Self Management, Relationship Skills and Confidence throughout the semester. Although the projects ranged in expression and creativity, every student was pleased with their outcome. \r\n\r\nDuring the time of relationship skills, students partnered together to discuss how they manage stress and anxiety in daily life. \r\n\r\nOur goal of building self esteem, confidence and social skills was ACHIEVED and beyond! This artwork and creative expression for each student will be something remembered forever by them and as well by ME!
