Many people use technology at home, but seeing how it works in a school setting has opened their eyes to what is possible. The printer helps students learn by taking their digital designs and turning them into real objects they can touch. When they create something in Tinkercad and then watch it print layer by layer, they understand engineering, math, and science concepts in a much deeper way.\r\n\r\nStudents are most excited about seeing their ideas come to life. They have used the printer to make pieces for the engineering fair, parts for science investigations, and prototypes for our schoolwide mini golf course project. Even students who are usually quiet become fully engaged when it is time to design and test their creations. They take pride in improving their work, solving problems, and watching their designs grow from an idea to a finished product.\r\n\r\nSome of our English language learners have connected with this technology in a special way. They have been using their artistic strengths to create jewelry and small wearable pieces for the technology fair, and they will be selling their work at our school maker mart. This has given them a meaningful opportunity to apply STEAM skills, build confidence, and share their creativity with our community.","fullyFundedDate":1757517752169,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-innovation-enhancing-steam-l/9571165/","projectTitle":"Empowering Innovation: Enhancing Steam Learning With a 3D Printer","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Siembieda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2082527_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472949010895","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ksiembieda"},{"teacherId":1404499,"projectId":9304930,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students have been able to bring new vocabulary to life through the exciting world of 3D printing. Instead of simply reading or memorizing words, students now get to design and create models that connect directly to the terms they are learning. This hands-on experience has made abstract words concrete, giving them a chance to build, touch, and truly understand their new language in a meaningful way. The 3D printer has transformed our classroom into a space where curiosity, creativity, and learning come together.\r\n\r\nStudents are not only mastering vocabulary more quickly, but they are also developing problem-solving skills and confidence as they see their designs come to life. What once felt like difficult or unfamiliar words are now connected to projects they are proud of, making learning both fun and empowering. In the past 5 months, we have worked on a total of five clay projects so far!\r\n\r\nFirst graders created pinch pot monsters inspired by local ATL artist Greg Mike while second grade artists imagined clay pumpkins inspired by the whimsical art of Yayoi Kusama. In 4th grade, we began our textured dragon eyes to close out the Year of the Dragon. 5th grade artists began their Tiny Doors inspired by another local artist Karen Anderson Singer, the mastermind behind the infamous tiny doors scattered around Atlanta's neighborhoods. In Art Club, we finished our fairy house jars which were displayed at our Garden Lights event. With half the school year remaining, I am excited for all the creativity and artistry to come.\r\n\r\nYour donation of texture rollers, clay mats, tools, and glazes has enriched our students' experience here at SPARK.
