I am Mrs. McCafferty. I have taught in the inner city Baltimore but most recently relocated to Atlanta, GA. I originally became certified in Indiana getting a bachelors degree in Elementary Education at Purdue University. My teacher training was in well off/functioning schools. I arrived in Baltimore and my teaching was changed forever. I loved these students, parents, and curriculum I encountered as well as the challenges...challenges I would otherwise not face. We all ate breakfast together, some students needed pencils for homework, some students needed to brush their teeth at school, and I never knew if they had enough rest. My joy comes when I am able to have a meaningful relationship with these children. I hope to encourage my new students in GA in a similar way to MD.
