Every August, we work through Kate DiCamillo's The Tiger Rising to discuss characters and settings and details, Oh My! In the past, I have had the only copy of the novel and used the poster printer, document camera, and interactive whiteboard to show students the text up close. With these individual copies of this award-winning novel, my students will be able to read along with me as we dive into DiCamillo's amazing story with intensity. This is the glue that will make the learning stick. By having the pages in their hands, my students can use sticky notes to jot notes, questions, and words they don't know. It will help build vocabulary, make connections, and further the reading culture of our classroom.
