I wrapped them up as their Christmas gift since many are unable to open anything at Christmas time. They were so excited to have a gift under their tree! They were grateful for the apple sauce and yogurt pouches as well as those were replacement items for other things that got cancelled. We have thoroughly enjoyed using our art supplies for a variety of projects this school year though I must say, Christmas time was when they were most used! My students have been using the tissue paper to reinforce their fine motor skills. We do a lot of rolling and tearing to help make our hand muscles strong. We have also been using the pipe cleaners a lot in our STEM bins and my students love being able to bend them and use them for a variety of our stem challenges. Outdoors, we have been able to use our chalk and outdoor kit to keep our students excited during afternoon recess when we are on the yard. The children could hardly believe there were so many different cracker and chip varieties just for them. After a morning of letter practice, counting games, and early writing, a short snack break helps my students refocus and reset. I've noticed that once they finish their snack, they return to the carpet calmer, more engaged, and better able to participate in activities like phonics games and number centers. \r\n\r\nRight now, we are working on recognizing letters and sounds while also learning to cooperate with classmates and follow routines.
