Your generosity has truly made an impact.\r\n\r\nHow are you and your students using the new resources?\r\nWhen we began our painting unit, students immediately started exploring color theory using primary colors and learning about color relationships. As they mixed paints, students became more aware of differences in hue, saturation, and overall paint quality. These moments turned into powerful teachable opportunities as we discussed why some colors appeared richer, blended more smoothly, and created stronger visual results.\r\n\r\nAfter practicing color mixing and brush control, students completed a small sketchbook painting of a popsicle to apply their new skills. We then moved into our fortune cookie painting project using the canvases and paint generously donated through DonorsChoose. Students quickly noticed the difference between painting on canvas versus paper and experienced how higher-quality materials improved their ability to blend colors and create depth.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nThe excitement was immediate. Students were eager to begin painting and were amazed by the vibrancy of the colors they could create. They especially loved mixing bright blues, greens, and purples and seeing how saturated and professional their paintings looked. The quality materials increased confidence, creativity, and overall engagement in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students?\r\nStudents are currently continuing their practice on canvas paper donated through this project. Their next step is to design and create an independent painting that applies the techniques, color knowledge, and artistic skills they have developed throughout the unit. They are now working more independently and thoughtfully, building both artistic skill and creative confidence.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful for your support. Because of you, our students have the opportunity to experience art using quality materials that help them feel like real artists. The paper trays, file folders, and label maker have made it much easier for students to organize their work and find the papers they need. Any time a student is absent, they are now able to find the papers they missed much more easily, which is something I used to have to help them with a lot. This organizational tool has helped save me a lot of time and means I can spend more time with students helping answer their questions about the content instead of answering \"What did I miss?\"\r\nI am also extremely grateful for the phone chargers and decks of cards, as they have really helped keep phones out of students' hands during instructional time. Students do not argue with me about putting their phone away, since they are getting the benefit of having it charge now. Having playing cards available has also been really great for students who finish early. Instead of grabbing their phone, they can grab a deck of cards and play a game. Many students have really enjoyed this option being available to them. Keeping the distraction of their phone out of their hands has been really beneficial to students' learning of the material and engagement with their peers.\r\nFinally, the Cricut has been great for my student leadership class! I has helped them to make more precise letters and designs much faster for their posters and school decorations. We have gotten a lot of compliments on how nice their posters look, thanks to the Cricut. It also helped us make jerseys for our charity fundraiser. Students were able to save money by numbering jerseys themselves, rather than ordering them pre-numbered. This meant students could focus all of their effort into raising money for Northern Nevada Hopes, rather than also raising money for themselves to purchase supplies.
