Since we have more space now for books students have been asking if we could get more books for our classroom library. \r\nThe mobility desk has allowed for space to clear up around the classroom. My room is very small which means that I do not have a lot of room sometimes and everything is usually confined to the front. Since your donation was integrated into the classroom we have had more room to move around and even do activities that students use the room to move. The paper trays, file folders, and label maker have made it much easier for students to organize their work and find the papers they need. Any time a student is absent, they are now able to find the papers they missed much more easily, which is something I used to have to help them with a lot. This organizational tool has helped save me a lot of time and means I can spend more time with students helping answer their questions about the content instead of answering \"What did I miss?\"\r\nI am also extremely grateful for the phone chargers and decks of cards, as they have really helped keep phones out of students' hands during instructional time. Students do not argue with me about putting their phone away, since they are getting the benefit of having it charge now. Having playing cards available has also been really great for students who finish early. Instead of grabbing their phone, they can grab a deck of cards and play a game. Many students have really enjoyed this option being available to them. Keeping the distraction of their phone out of their hands has been really beneficial to students' learning of the material and engagement with their peers.\r\nFinally, the Cricut has been great for my student leadership class! I has helped them to make more precise letters and designs much faster for their posters and school decorations. We have gotten a lot of compliments on how nice their posters look, thanks to the Cricut. It also helped us make jerseys for our charity fundraiser. Students were able to save money by numbering jerseys themselves, rather than ordering them pre-numbered. This meant students could focus all of their effort into raising money for Northern Nevada Hopes, rather than also raising money for themselves to purchase supplies. We could not have done this without your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1769212481456,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-student-leadership-and-math/10030398/","projectTitle":"High School Student Leadership and Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harmor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10407279_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769057238376","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10407279"},{"teacherId":10405147,"projectId":10025355,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our DonorsChoose project and for providing our classroom with updated bakingware. Due to your generosity, my students are gaining hands-on culinary experiences that are meaningful, engaging, and truly special - especially for students in this demographic who don't often have access to professional-quality kitchen equipment.\r\n\r\nWe have already put the new bakingware to great use in our culinary classroom. Students have been able to prepare a variety of dishes, including freshly baked bread, creamy flan, and homemade ice cream. Having reliable, updated equipment allowed students to focus on technique, precision, and presentation rather than struggling with worn or limited tools. One standout moment was watching students proudly pull their bread from the oven and evaluate texture, color, and flavor like real chefs. These moments have made lessons come alive and helped students connect classroom learning to real-world culinary skills.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new bakingware, they were genuinely excited and eager to get started. Many commented on how professional everything looked and couldn't wait to try it out. For some students, this was their first opportunity to work with equipment like this, and it made them feel valued and capable. Their enthusiasm translated into focus, collaboration, and a strong sense of pride in their work. Knowing that people outside our classroom believed in them made the experience even more meaningful.\r\n\r\nWith your support, students are continuing their culinary journey and building foundational skills that will prepare them for the next level of the program next year. They are learning not only recipes, but also patience, teamwork, and confidence in the kitchen. Because of this project, I will be able to expand our culinary program further - offering more advanced techniques, new recipes, and deeper learning opportunities for future students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and for giving my students experiences they will remember for years to come. One especially meaningful moment was watching students choose to work on the bean bag chair during independent practice—it quickly became a calm, motivating spot where students could focus, reset, and feel comfortable while learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were thrilled. The excitement was immediate—students eagerly helped organize the colorful binders and storage bins, tested out the sensory pop tubes, and couldn't wait to use the speaker during group activities. The snacks were also a huge hit and helped support focus and positive behavior during longer learning blocks.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support our current math units and life-skills lessons by giving students consistent opportunities to apply concepts in meaningful, real-world ways. Having access to authentic trade materials allowed my autistic students to learn in ways that match their strengths—through building, exploring, and doing. They became more engaged, more confident, and more willing to try new tasks once they realized they could create and problem-solve independently.\r\n\r\nThe pipework materials were especially impactful. Students explored how different pieces connect and function, which strengthened their critical thinking and fine motor skills. Many students who were hesitant at first became fully engaged once they realized they could create something real and meaningful with their own hands.\r\n\r\nThe organizational tools included in this project also played a huge role. Clear storage bins, labeled shelves, and structured tool stations helped reduce visual clutter and made the classroom easier for students to navigate. Because everything had a predictable place, students became more independent—grabbing the tools they needed, cleaning up after themselves, and taking responsibility for their workspace. This structure supported their focus and helped them develop important life skills like organization and self-management.\r\n\r\nOverall, this project gave my students opportunities they wouldn't have had otherwise.
