You donation went directly to fund the school's Otter Store, which is a popular and highly anticipated privilege for our students who have earned our school's token economy (Otter Shells). \r\n\r\nThanks to you, the items I was able to purchase were high interest such as LCD writing tablets, color changing putty, slime and various fidget toys. All of our students from preschool through 5th grade have opportunities to receive an item from our Otter Store, but only our 3rd-5th graders can actually shop the store for more than one item at the end of every quarter. The third-grade students have been waiting for three or more years to shop the store in its entirety, so they are particularly excited and motivated to see what items are available and save up their Otter Shells to make purchases. \r\n\r\nIt is so very important that this project supported since the Otter Store is funded solely through donations such as yours. The students are writing words with each pattern and practicing to become more proficient readers. Now, when they are finished with their class assignments, they get to choose a fun and engaging learning center to work on to extend their learning. Additionally, they can grab a sit stone, carpet circle, or wiggle seat and find a comfy place in the classroom that best suits their learning style. They are more motivated to learn and complete their best work in the classroom when they know they will get to use our flexible learning materials. Additionally, having the noise cancelling headphones and the headphones with microphones help students find the appropriate noise level for them as they work. I am excited to use these with students for years to come. Students look forward to visiting the Otter Store every quarter, and due to the generosity of our donors, it is especially exciting when they can purchase something new that they may not otherwise be able to own. \r\n\r\nThis is the first time I have turned to Donors Choose to help fund the Positive Behavior Program at our school, and I am looking forward to continuing this successful fundraising in the future.
