By offering a fruitful library my hope is that more and more students will be attracted to titles, covers, blurbs, and ultimately pick a book and read it. \r\nTherefore, I appreciate your desire to support endeavors like this and welcome you to continue supporting teachers that love to read and promote reading as I do.","fullyFundedDate":1773857190610,"projectUrl":"project/books-that-open-worlds/10141231/","projectTitle":"Books that Open Worlds","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cedeno","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9063468_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1685535343151","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9063468"},{"teacherId":10233511,"projectId":10062973,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my project, \"Loaner Laptops to Keep Every Student Connected and Learning.\" Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference in my classroom. As a 10th-grade English teacher, technology is an essential part of our daily learning. Students use their laptops to access digital texts, complete reading and writing assignments, practice important literacy skills, conduct research, and prepare for the FAST Reading assessment, which is a graduation requirement in Florida.\r\n\r\nBefore receiving these loaner laptops, a student arriving without a working or charged device could easily fall behind or have to share with a classmate. Now, I can simply hand that student a laptop and say, \"You can still participate today.\" That may seem like a small moment, but it removes a major barrier to learning. Students can work alongside their classmates, access the same resources, and complete their assignments independently without feeling singled out because they do not have access to a device that day.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting for my students is knowing that these laptops are here specifically to support them when they need them. I have already seen students who would otherwise have been unable to participate immediately get to work after receiving a loaner. Your donation did much more than provide technology—it provided access, independence, and opportunity. Because of you, fewer students have to miss valuable instructional time simply because of a technology issue.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping me create a classroom where every student has the tools needed to learn and succeed. Your generosity helps ensure that when students walk into my classroom, technology does not determine whether they can participate. Every student deserves the opportunity to stay connected, keep learning, and reach their full potential—and you helped make that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1776546549134,"projectUrl":"project/loaner-laptops-to-keep-every-student-con/10062973/","projectTitle":"Loaner Laptops to Keep Every Student Connected and Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cancio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10233511_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756572875838","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10233511"},{"teacherId":3048077,"projectId":10263169,"letterContent":"The Apple MacBook Air has made a wonderful impact on my students with autism. Because many of my students learn best through visual modeling, structure, and hands-on activities, having this technology in our classroom has allowed me to make lessons more engaging and accessible. We have been able to use digital art activities, visual supports, and step-by-step modeling to help students understand and complete projects more independently. The MacBook has also given me another way to adapt activities to meet each student's individual needs and learning style.\r\n\r\nMy students especially enjoy using technology as part of our creative activities. It is exciting to watch them explore, make choices, and see their ideas come to life on the screen. Some students who need more encouragement to stay focused during traditional activities are especially motivated when technology is incorporated into the lesson. Most importantly, I have seen how proud they are when they complete something on their own and are able to share what they created. This MacBook is helping us build much more than technology and art skills-it is supporting creativity, communication, confidence, focus, and independence. The iPad has become an incredibly valuable tool in our classroom. Many of my students have autism and significant communication and learning needs, so traditional teaching methods do not always provide them with the level of interaction and accessibility they need. With the iPad, students are able to participate in interactive lessons, practice important academic and life skills, make choices, and work on communication in a way that is engaging and accessible to them.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting things for my students is being able to interact directly with the screen and receive immediate feedback. Students who may have difficulty responding verbally can demonstrate what they know by selecting, matching, sorting, and completing activities independently. We have especially seen our nonverbal students gravitate toward the technology. Having a device that allows them to communicate, make choices, and participate alongside their classmates gives them another way to have their voices heard.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this technology is helping us work toward one of our biggest classroom goals: independence. Every new skill matters, whether a student independently completes an activity, communicates a need, follows a visual routine, or solves a problem without assistance. Your generosity has given my students another tool to learn, communicate, and become more independent. With access to the printer and Cricut tools, students moved beyond traditional assignments and began creating meaningful, real-world work that could be seen, shared, and felt by others.\r\n\r\nStudents used these resources to turn their original poems, reflections, and empathy statements into polished visual displays. What started as writing on paper became powerful messages showcased across the school. This shift increased student ownership and pride—students were no longer just completing tasks; they were creating work with purpose.\r\n\r\nThe impact was immediate. Students showed greater engagement, collaboration, and confidence, especially those who are typically hesitant to share their voices. Seeing their ideas come to life encouraged them to participate more actively and take creative risks. Research shows that project-based learning strengthens not only academic achievement but also thinking skills and emotional engagement, making learning more meaningful and lasting.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, students developed a deeper sense of empathy. Through writing and design, they explored perspectives beyond their own and learned to express understanding and compassion. Projects like these have been shown to build communication skills and increase students' ability to connect with others in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nNext, students will expand their impact by sharing their work through school displays and community exhibits. They will present their projects, explain their messages, and encourage others to engage in acts of kindness inspired by their work.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, students are not just learning about empathy—they are practicing it, sharing it, and using their voices to make a difference.","fullyFundedDate":1770916162835,"projectUrl":"project/printing-compassion-posters-poems-tha/10085949/","projectTitle":"Printing Compassion: Posters & Poems That Share Empathy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tellez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2049286"},{"teacherId":10183352,"projectId":9963124,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project, \"Communication Creates Access.\" Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in my classroom and in the lives of my students.\r\nBecause of your support, my students with language impairments now have better tools to express their needs, thoughts, and feelings.
