The playground equipment has shown to be a huge success in the classroom. Once the students walked into the classroom and saw the jump rope and balls, they immediately got excited. My equipment leader did not hesitate to tell the class about the new equipment and happily carried it out to recess. \r\n\r\nThe other supplies, such as the rolling cart and treasure box items, have also been a huge hit in the classroom. The students have taken over, putting away their supplies by using the cart to put their supplies for our reading and math groups and alongside pertinent writing resources. They have the accessibility to move their cart freely around the room and not be limited to their resources being stationary. \r\n\r\nThis truly is their classroom, and they have continued to lead their learning with more resources that have been provided, all thanks to your generous donation.","fullyFundedDate":1768233940564,"projectUrl":"project/learning-lab-for-the-growing-students/10007981/","projectTitle":"Learning Lab for the Growing Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chavez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10401788_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768180568157","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10401788"},{"teacherId":10401860,"projectId":10008373,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Because of you, my students now have the opportunity to read The Hunger Games as a full class novel, and their excitement has been incredible. In our ELA class, we often read short stories, so being able to dive into a full-length, modern novel feels especially meaningful. My students feel a real sense of pride and accomplishment as they move chapter by chapter, knowing they are taking on a challenging text and sticking with it together.\r\n\r\nThese novels allow us to work on important seventh-grade ELA skills aligned with our standards, including analyzing theme, character development, point of view, and citing strong textual evidence during discussion and writing. We read in small \"book club\" groups, where students read chapters together and engage in thoughtful conversations before coming back as a class for deeper discussions and Socratic seminars. The Hunger Games has brought a level of buy-in and engagement that is truly special—students are eager to participate, share ideas, and think critically about the text in ways I don't always see with more traditional units.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I love introducing Katniss as an unreliable narrator and watching students wrestle with perspective and bias. We are even gamifying the experience by dividing the class into districts, which has made the novel study both rigorous and fun. Your support has made this rich, engaging learning experience possible, and I can't wait to share photos of my students reading, discussing, and proudly holding these books. Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1768193213318,"projectUrl":"project/powerful-stories-bringing-the-hunger-ga/10008373/","projectTitle":"Powerful Stories: Bringing The Hunger Games to My Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reich","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10401860_orig.png?crop=372,372,x5,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768198209347","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10401860"},{"teacherId":9968012,"projectId":9167383,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our 4th grade classroom. Having high-quality, age-appropriate texts helps foster a love of reading while strengthening comprehension, critical thinking, and confidence. The organization items are equally valuable, creating a more structured, welcoming environment where students can stay focused, take responsibility for their materials, and spend more time learning.\r\nYour generosity directly supports my students' growth and success, and I am truly grateful for your investment in their education. Students who were shy about playing out loud began participating because they could control their volume and hear themselves clearly. The instruments helped level the playing field—beginners could focus on clean finger placement and steady rhythm without getting drowned out, while more advanced students could explore tone, dynamics, and musical expression. Attendance and effort improved because students felt like they were part of something modern and \"real,\" like the instruments musicians actually use on stage.\r\n\r\nInstructionally, the electric ukuleles made our rehearsals more focused and more musical. We could rehearse as a true ensemble: balance parts, shape dynamics together, and practice listening skills instead of just \"trying to be loud enough.\" The ability to plug in also allowed for quicker feedback during class—students could hear when a chord buzzed, when rhythm rushed, or when a line didn't blend. As a result, students performed with more confidence, families could actually hear their children at showcases, and our program gained momentum through stronger concerts and proud student ownership.","fullyFundedDate":1704581686449,"projectUrl":"project/electric-ukuleles-for-students/7991032/","projectTitle":"Electric Ukuleles for Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sanchez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9349779_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704420059714","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/skypointeguitar"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104842","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2172,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":20,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.0,"schoolId":104842,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Somerset Academy - Sky Pointe Elementary on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Somerset Academy - Sky Pointe Elementary","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/nevada-department-of-education/somerset-academy-sky-pointe/104842"}
