Because of your kindness, my students and I now have a brand-new computer cart that allows us to keep our laptops charged, stored safely, and ready for learning. This addition to our classroom has made a tremendous difference in how we use technology each day, and I cannot thank you enough for making it possible.\r\n\r\nBefore receiving this cart, using laptops was a challenge. In order to incorporate technology into my lessons, I often had to borrow devices from another classroom. This meant spending time walking back and forth to collect them, wheeling them to our room, and then returning them afterward. The process took away from valuable instructional minutes, and at times, I hesitated to even plan lessons that required technology because of the inconvenience. Students sometimes grew frustrated when we lost momentum in our learning just trying to get set up.\r\n\r\nNow that the cart is here, all of those obstacles have disappeared. The laptops are right where we need them, fully charged, and ready to go. This simple change has saved us so much time and allowed us to jump directly into learning. Every minute in the classroom counts, and thanks to this project, my students can now spend those minutes exploring, creating, and practicing skills rather than waiting or transitioning.\r\n\r\nThe immediate impact has been incredible. Students have more consistent access to technology, which has helped them stay connected to our lessons and more engaged in their work. I've noticed a huge difference in their motivation—there is excitement in the room whenever we use the laptops, and that energy has carried over into the way they approach assignments. Instead of seeing learning as a chore, students see it as an opportunity to interact, explore, and have fun.\r\n\r\nBeyond motivation, the cart has given my students a sense of independence and responsibility. They know the laptops are always available, and they have learned to manage them carefully—taking one out, using it for their work, and returning it to charge when they are done. This process teaches them accountability and makes them feel more ownership over their learning.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, having this resource has allowed me to design more engaging and interactive lessons. Whether students are solving math problems through digital games, diving into research for social studies, or exploring science concepts through simulations, technology brings the content to life. The cart has turned our classroom into a space where curiosity and creativity thrive.\r\n\r\nAll of this is possible because of your generosity. You may not be in the room with us each day, but your impact is felt every time a student opens a laptop and dives into learning. You have given my students the gift of time, access, and opportunity—things that will continue to benefit them not just this year, but for years to come.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in our classroom and for helping to create meaningful learning experiences. These hands on materials are making abstract concepts easier to understand, and I can see their confidence growing with each lesson. It is heartwarming to witness the joy they feel when they solve problems using the manipulative you made possible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping to shape the future of these little learners, and I am truly grateful for your support. I am grateful seeing them walk into class eagerly awaiting what we will use on the given day. One particular project that stands out is when we used playdough to explore shapes and patterns. The students worked in small groups, molding the playdough into various shapes like circles, squares, and triangles, then connecting them to form larger patterns. This hands-on activity helped them better understand geometry concepts while allowing them to express their creativity.\r\n\r\nThe dot markers have been another hit, especially when we used them for a fun \"dot-to-dot\" number and letter activity. The students enjoyed creating colorful designs while reinforcing their counting and letter recognition skills. They also used the markers to create their own drawings, combining colors and shapes.\r\n\r\nWhen the STEM toys were introduced, the reactions were immediate and full of excitement. The students couldn't wait to dive into building with the blocks and gears. They collaborated in teams, solving problems as they constructed various structures, and it was amazing to see them experimenting and learning about engineering concepts. Some students were particularly interested in creating moving parts with the gears, and others enjoyed designing intricate patterns with the blocks.\r\n\r\nOverall, the students were thrilled by the new materials, and their enthusiasm led to greater collaboration and problem-solving skills in the classroom. The hands-on nature of these resources provided a more engaging and interactive learning experience, and it's clear that they foster both learning and fun.","fullyFundedDate":1725159219245,"projectUrl":"project/kindergarten-young-learners-successful/8523592/","projectTitle":"Kindergarten: Young Learners Successful in a Welcoming Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Laverde","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9610490"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45853","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":508,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":98,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":74.4,"schoolId":45853,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Seminole Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Seminole Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/seminole-elementary-school/45853"}
