My 6th grade students frequently lose their papers, forget them in their lockers, tell me that someone stole them, or a host of other excuses. This year it is not happening. They are able to keep track of their folders and the nice part is that when someone finds them laying in the hall, other students or teachers know exactly where the folder belongs and I get them back.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the folders, you graciously donated products to keep the room cleaner and more organized. I have the ability to place books on the magnetic shelves that pertain to our unit of study. I have watched students take the books back to their seats and read them or use them as reference. \r\n\r\nI can not express just how rewarding it is to see students being just a bit more engaged and organized!","fullyFundedDate":1787243444281,"projectUrl":"project/a-new-year-deserves-a-fresh-start/10477064/","projectTitle":"A New Year Deserves a Fresh Start","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melendez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7124240"},{"teacherId":9616362,"projectId":10140898,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping give my students a voice! The technology and communication tools from this project have already made a meaningful difference in our classroom. For my students, an iPad is much more than a piece of technology—it can become their voice. Using AAC, students who have limited or no verbal speech are able to make choices, request what they need, participate in classroom activities, and communicate with the people around them. We are also able to model language throughout the school day, helping students learn that communication is not limited to answering questions or asking for something they want. They can comment, protest, share feelings, interact with friends, and advocate for themselves.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting parts has been watching students explore these tools and realize that their actions have meaning. The recording buttons provide an accessible starting point for students who may not yet be ready to navigate a larger AAC system. Pressing a button and hearing a message allows them to participate in activities alongside their classmates while learning the powerful cause-and-effect relationship of communication: when I communicate, someone listens and responds. The books have also given us opportunities to talk about the many different ways people communicate and reinforce that there is no single \"right\" way to have a voice.\r\n\r\nEvery student approaches communication differently, and that is exactly why having multiple options available is so valuable. Some students are drawn to the iPad and symbols, while others respond more readily to a simple recorded message or another form of communication. These resources allow us to meet students where they are and build from there. Thank you for believing that my students' thoughts, choices, feelings, and ideas deserve to be heard. Your generosity has given us more than technology—you have given my students greater opportunities for independence, connection, and a voice in their own lives.","fullyFundedDate":1773337318678,"projectUrl":"project/every-student-deserves-a-voice/10140898/","projectTitle":"Every Student Deserves a Voice","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Victoria","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9616362_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728162185835","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9616362"},{"teacherId":5952220,"projectId":10041949,"letterContent":"Thank you, again, for your donation to our elementary school music classroom. It is so wonderful to gather as a building and use our equipment and instruments in one dedicated room rather than traveling from room to room. It is exciting and convenient to have access to everything at once —allowing small group projects where \"bands\" can use guitars, ukuleles, recorders, and percussion to cover their favorite songs. Your donation keeps the ukuleles in working order and more grades to use recorders. The drum sticks you purchased are so important for our students' informal after school jam sessions. Our EI classroom students (and paraprofessional!)in particular, enjoy and excel at the drum set. \r\n\r\nWe don't take our donor's choose items for granted! They have been able to manipulate the continents and see exactly how our planet has gotten to the current continental placement that we have and even, where the continents will be in the next million years. I was able to purchase a number of blank books that the students used to create a story about going on their dream vacation only to end up stranded on a deserted island. \r\n\r\nIn order to write their books, students had to learn how to start a fire without matches, build a simple structure for shelter and purify water. I'm able to print interactive notes for the students to fill in, saving time and ensuring students are engaged in notetaking. \r\nI use the anchor chart paper to create instructional materials and displays to help with learning.
