The new equipment and resources have completely transformed the way we practice and play. We've incorporated structured drills, team-building activities, and real-game scenarios into our sessions—boosting individual growth while strengthening team connections.\r\n\r\nI'll never forget the excitement on the boys' faces when they saw the new gear for the first time—their eyes lit up like it was game day. Many of them had never had access to this kind of equipment before, and it instantly made them feel like true athletes. That moment sparked a renewed sense of pride and motivation. The boys began practicing with greater focus and energy, and we saw noticeable improvement right away.\r\n\r\nThis season, we proudly made it to the district tournament as one of the top 16 schools. Since the season ended, I've continued using the equipment with our after-school basketball club, which now includes both boys and girls as young as six years old. This book has done more than just give us a shared reading experience—it has sparked important discussions about friendship, empathy, and personal growth. As we've read together, students have practiced essential reading skills such as identifying character traits, analyzing plot development, and comparing characters' perspectives. We've also used this novel to explore deeper themes like self-acceptance and the impact of kindness, making our reading time both meaningful and memorable.\r\nIn our classroom, reading is interactive and collaborative. Students read aloud, discuss their thoughts in small groups, and respond in writing using evidence from the text. The classroom set of books has allowed every student to have their own copy, which has made a tremendous difference. Students are more engaged when they can follow along and revisit sections to deepen their understanding. We've even used the text for writing assignments and role-play activities, making literature come alive in multiple ways.\r\nOne student in particular, who was previously reluctant to read in class, has completely connected with Bradley Chalkers' journey. Seeing himself in a character who struggles to fit in has made him more willing to participate in discussions and share his thinking. Moments like that are what make these books so powerful. Thank you for making this experience possible—you've helped foster a love for reading and learning that will stay with these students long after the final chapter.","fullyFundedDate":1734517344602,"projectUrl":"project/building-empathy-through-books/8989492/","projectTitle":"Building Empathy Through Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Anteola","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8273386_orig.jpg?crop=215,215,x22,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733333205113","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8273386"},{"teacherId":4902477,"projectId":9005283,"letterContent":"I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generosity in funding snacks for my classroom.
