Because of you, that has changed. My students now have books they are proud to take home, keep by their beds, and read with their families. They constantly ask, \"Can I take another book home?\" or excitedly tell me, \"I read my whole book last night!\"\r\n\r\nThese books have helped strengthen important early literacy skills we practice every day in first grade. In our classroom, reading looks like students sounding out words, practicing fluency, retelling stories, identifying characters and settings, learning new vocabulary, and building confidence as independent readers. We spend time reading together as a class, in small groups, and independently.
