From the very first morning, students eagerly planned to explore them, and we worked together on how to share, take turns, and problem-solve. These moments became powerful opportunities for building community and practicing conflict resolution.\r\n\r\nNow, just a few weeks later, some children are confidently creating new paths for the balls and gears, while others are learning to ask for help or collaborate with peers. The materials have become a source of creativity, teamwork, and independence.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue experimenting with more complex designs, encouraging students to think critically and celebrate each other's ideas. Thanks to your support, our students now have access to marble run kits that are helping to bring science, engineering, and problem-solving to life in our STEM classes. \r\n\r\nI have been able to share these marble run kits with the nearly 400 students in my school. My students were so excited to design, build and play with the marble run kits. We started off each class talking about the concepts of potential energy, kinetic energy, gravity and friction. The students were then assigned to a group of 3 or 4 where they followed directions to build a specific marble run. This helped them become familiar with the pieces and the process. After completing the project they were encouraged to modify the run they created, or to start from the beginning designing their own. It was great watching them work together to plan and create. I absolutely loved watching them problem solve. If they couldn't find a piece they wanted, we talked about what other pieces would work. One team ran out of pieces and used the box they came in to support their run. They surpassed my expectations in problem solving and were incredibly proud of their creations. The kits are allowing them to experiment, fail and try again, which is a key part of the engineering design process. \r\n\r\nWe look forward to more marble run projects and using these kits for many years to come. Thank you for helping to inspire students to think of new ways they can apply science and engineering in the future. We are already planning a \"marble run challenge\" project.","fullyFundedDate":1734109876258,"projectUrl":"project/rolling-into-stem-engaging-minds-with/8818987/","projectTitle":"Rolling Into STEM: Engaging Minds with Marble Run Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hamling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9690456"},{"teacherId":6603967,"projectId":8903687,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom! The students have LOVED every moment with these humongous magnet tiles. It has been really fun to watch social skills grow as students work together to build gigantic structures and come up with new ideas about how to build with these tiles. We have had rocket ships, stores, houses, bear caves, tunnels and more just in the last few weeks! I think one of the coolest things about these tiles is that they are fun and different so many students have requested to play with them successfully when they have not been motivated to request any other materials. It has really been one of the coolest additions to our class!","fullyFundedDate":1732219496203,"projectUrl":"project/magnetic-mansions-for-preschoolers/8903687/","projectTitle":"Magnetic Mansions for Preschoolers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hildebrand","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6603967_orig.png?crop=1535,1535,x98,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597101870563","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/johannah-hildebrand"},{"teacherId":6603967,"projectId":7722963,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to our Large Group Learning!
