After spending five years in a high school setting, I have had to start from scratch working with elementary school students and the supplies you helped provide have made a world of difference in my sessions with students.\r\n\r\nCooperative board games are a huge favorite with my primary and intermediate grade students. Games from this project like Hoot Owl Hoot and Race to the Treasure give my students opportunities to practice following rules and routines, taking turns, and working with peers toward a shared goal. They hardly realize they're building important skills while they're playing! \r\n\r\nBooks about friendship, emotions, and decision making help my students process their own experiences through the lens of a fictional character and model new skills that my students can use to navigate unfamiliar or challenging situations. My students love reading about Elephant and Piggie's shenanigans and comparing the characters' friendship to the relationships they have in their own lives. Another favorite book this year has been \"A Little Spot of Feelings,\" which taught them how to be emotion detectives and look for clues to how themselves and others are feeling.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful for your help making my social work room a place where students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn. Your generosity means the world to me and my students!","fullyFundedDate":1753770446824,"projectUrl":"project/social-work-staples/9506317/","projectTitle":"Social Work Staples","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grosso","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10096903"},{"teacherId":274499,"projectId":9286170,"letterContent":"Thank you! The kids love the desks. Not only do the desks allow the students to stand, but the tops are whiteboards that they can write on (so cool). The desk are quite sturdy also. This means that the screeching of desk feet and chairs has been blessedly silenced. That quiet helps the kids that have sensory overload remain calm and in general helps the class stay in engaged in their work.\r\n\r\nThe kids have practiced their sharing and taking turns with the desks. This may not seem like a big deal, but when you are five it is a huge lesson to learn. Each day, the kids practice being kind and thoughtful about sharing the desks. Learning to do that is a life lesson that will help everyone as this class grows and matures.\r\n\r\nThank you so very much for your help and support.","fullyFundedDate":1745838914038,"projectUrl":"project/stand-up-desks-make-stand-out-students/9286170/","projectTitle":"Stand-Up Desks Make Stand-Out Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mangelsdorf","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-mangelsdorf"},{"teacherId":274499,"projectId":9264587,"letterContent":"You probably do not realize what a difference you have made in our classroom. Students that were really having a hard time focusing on their work are finding it a little bit easier now. It is also so much easier for the students that have always stood to do their work to do it at an actual standing desk instead of curled up over a table. Tables that are too low to stand at, but the kids try it anyway.\r\n\r\nThese desks also represent a different way of looking at and helping our students. Anyone that has ever had children knows that kids are not wired to sit still in a desk for 6 1/2 hours a day. These desks help the kids get their wiggles out and the students feel that it is an honor to sit at the new desks. \r\n\r\nI thank you for your support from the bottom, middle and top of my heart!","fullyFundedDate":1745342924344,"projectUrl":"project/stand-up-desks-make-stand-out-students/9264587/","projectTitle":"Stand-Up Desks Make Stand-Out Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mangelsdorf","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-mangelsdorf"},{"teacherId":274499,"projectId":9261738,"letterContent":"Thank you! These desks are highly coveted by my kindergartners. Four of the desk were assigned to students that really need to be able to stand and use the fidgit bar on a regular basis. These are students who fell out of their chairs at least once or twice a week. Since the students have been in their new desks there has not been one student falling out of their seat.\r\n\r\nTwo of the desk rotate through the classroom on a daily basis and during centers. The kids know that it is an honor to be able to use these desks and are treating the desks with such respect. An added bonus that I did not expect is that it has reinforced our SEL lessons on sharing and taking turns.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity, your donation has made a really big impact on my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1745009025195,"projectUrl":"project/stand-up-desks-make-stand-out-students/9261738/","projectTitle":"Stand-Up Desks Make Stand-Out Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mangelsdorf","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-mangelsdorf"},{"teacherId":274499,"projectId":9213714,"letterContent":"Thank you! We put together our first set of desks and it has made such a difference for my students. I have put some of my most wiggly students in these desks and it is just magical. The fidget bar has a calming affect on them, they are absolutely enamored of whiteboard desktop and no one has fallen off the stools for an entire week. This is a record in my classroom!\r\n\r\nThe students were very excited when the boxes arrived in the classroom. They were hoping that I would build it while we were in class. The desks are VERY sturdy and heavy, which also means they are not getting pushed out of alignment or making noise during class time, which is an added bonus. \r\n\r\nWe are going to continue to fundraise to get desks for as many students as we can. While there are two children assigned to the desks, we rotate children during centers time. Every child in the classroom has asked me if I am going to get desks for everyone. I told them that I will try my very best.
