Today we have moved so far from Kindergarten being a place where children are allowed uninterrupted long periods of play. When Friedrich Wilhelm August Froebel invented Kindergarten, he had children playing with building blocks in mind. Materials such as building blocks stimulate multiple senses, thereby, stimulating learning. Added benefits include learning to share and enhancing teamwork. Students also gain problem-solving skills and perseverance as they attempt to figure out how to manipulate the blocks to create their desired output. Also building blocks can foster imaginative thinking and creative behavior. Children get a sense of accomplishment when they finish building and call everyone over to show off their masterpiece. It’s Kindergarten! Let's play!
