Throughout this unit, my students showed a heightened interest in books. One day in particular, as they walked into the class in the morning, one student asked if she could read her chapter book. I, of course, said yes and was thrilled to see them so interested in reading. The rest of the students did the same, and for about half an hour, the classroom was filled with students who chose to read their chapter books. I attribute this excitement to both our classroom work and the anticipation of their gallery walk/celebration. They loved using the supplies we received thanks to your generosity.\r\n\r\nOnce we set up the classroom or the celebration, the children could not contain their joy. They were eager for their parents and school community to see our classroom transformed into a real-life garden. They spoke about their reading projects with a sparkle in their eyes and immense pride.\r\n\r\nThis experience will stay in their memories forever and continue to grow their love of reading.
