I teach in an ICT (Inclusion Classroom) with about 12 students with Individual Education Plan. My biggest goal this year is to develop a sense of ownership in my students for their own education. I want students to be able to persevere in solving a problem or beg to go to the library to loan a book on a topic they are interested in. My students have been raised thinking that everything will be done for them. Although they require extra support, far too often teachers and parents will do the work for them. My school is extremely supportive but unfortunately is very limited in the resources they provide. By showing students the process rather than the product, I feel that their learning outcomes and engagement will increase.
