You have provided something so essential yet often is a scarcity for many of my students. Many, many students struggle with food insecurities. Younger students are often forthcoming with the information that they need food. For our older students, they are often more reserved with that information. \r\n By having this project, it allowed for my older students to make bags for other students, including themselves, but under the notion they were doing it for the other kids. It also spread like wildfire, the fact we had food for kids who were hungry. That day, I had 3 students separately come to my room or stop me in the hall to ask for food. The goal of this project is not only to provide food for hungry students but also to help to mask the stigma of food insecurity. I had several older students come to ask me last week if they could help to prepare bags, whether they were asking because they wanted to help or because they were hungry, the outcome was the same...they made some bags for others and were able to take one for themselves. \r\n Thank you for being you and for making our community a better place.","fullyFundedDate":1759764778440,"projectUrl":"project/foodthe-essential-component-of-everyd/9767314/","projectTitle":"Food...the Essential Component of Everyday Life","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Golpl","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6745500_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1588438008936","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-golpl"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_21249","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":396,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":70,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":49.1,"schoolId":21249,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 74 Hamlin Park School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 74 Hamlin Park School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/buffalo-public-schools/ps-74-hamlin-park-school/21249"}
