From the moment the snacks arrived, the students were visibly excited. One of the most impactful moments was seeing a student walk in late, having missed school breakfast, and light up when they saw there was still something to eat.\r\n\r\nTheir faces lit up with excitement and gratitude. Many of them expressed how happy they were to know that food was available if they needed it. It gave them peace of mind, and it showed in their ability to stay focused and more engaged during lessons.\r\n\r\nAlthough the snack project began with the intention of supporting only our classroom, it quickly became a safe haven for food for students across the building. Our classroom MacBook Air has become a powerful learning tool, especially for our ENL (English as a New Language) and Special Education students.\r\n\r\nThe MacBook allows students to access translation tools in real time, helping them understand directions, stories, and even math problems in a language they feel confident in. It also supports speech-to-text, so students who struggle with writing can speak their thoughts and see them come to life on the screen. This has removed barriers and made learning more personalized and accessible.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is how independent it makes them feel. They love being able to type their stories, research their favorite topics, or use visual dictionaries without waiting for help. The MacBook has given them a sense of ownership over their learning and that is incredibly empowering.\r\n\r\nSome of my ENL students who speak limited English uses it to read books that they once felt was too hard with a better understanding of what is happening in different curriculum stories. Another student with a writing disability now volunteers to share his typed work with the class because he finally feels confident in what he can produce.\r\n\r\nThis technology has truly leveled the playing field.
