Our old rug was green, with longer shag, and this new black and white rug pops in our classroom and has circles to show them where to sit. Our students enjoyed having clear designated spots to sit, and we loved that it helped created clear rows during lessons. The rug is such a center point in our classroom and we use it as so many points in our day. From the start of our day, our students come together in a circle around the rug for morning morning meeting, followed by multiple lessons where students sit on the rug for learning, and finally, ending the day back on the rug for our closing circle to reflect on our school day. \r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for your donation to this project. They explored how solar energy works, learned the fundamentals of circuits and mechanics, and discovered how renewable energy can power our future. The experience was not only highly educational but also deeply engaging. For many students, this was their first time building a robot—and the excitement on their faces when their creations began to move was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nThis project has sparked curiosity, teamwork, and a love for science and technology. Students were more engaged than ever, asking questions, troubleshooting design issues, and proudly sharing their robots with classmates and families. It's been amazing to see our student engagement and learning increase as we work in groups at our new vertical whiteboards, and our printer has made creating materials so much easier. \r\n\r\nStudents loved helping to assemble the whiteboards, and now we use them almost every day. Whenever it is time for students to practice whatever math we are working on, they spend some time practicing at tables, then meet in groups of three at each board to collaborate on solving more complex problems. Teachers and students can then see everyone's work in real time around the room. If a group of students gets stuck, they can look around to see what other types of diagrams, calculations, or strategies other groups are trying out. \r\n\r\nResearch shows that students are more engaged when they stand up to work together, and we're seeing that in real time as we solve equations, and learn how to use positive and negative numbers-- two of the most crucial topics in 7th grade math. \r\n\r\nNow, as we begin to learn about probability and sampling, students have been testing out the probability of certain events through games, and our boards are filled with decision trees, sample spaces, and possible outcomes. \r\n\r\nWe couldn't have done this without your support.
