Within our Evolution unit, students have the opportunity to dissect squid as they take a closer look at the adaptations that have made these creatures so successful over time. Students start by making observations of the external features such as the large eyes, fins and chromatophores and then have a closer look at the internal features including a beak, a pen and a brain that's pulled through the mouth! For each feature they are able to apply the form and function. It's a great way to really examine how successful traits make an organism survive in its environment.

About my class
