Third grade currently has three older chromebooks but IPads are able to run educational apps, take photos and video, and are more accessible for all learners because of their touch-screen format.
There are so many exciting ways to extend and support learning with technology. Some examples of how we could use IPads in our classroom: Students would play engaging math games to build fluency or challenge beyond our lessons. For our change-maker unit students could watch video and listen to interviews of their focus change-makers. And in our study of birds there are so many incredible resources that support students' experiential investigation of birds' bodies and habitats and adaptations and IPads would help students research their birds for their projects.
All of our students benefit from multi-sensory learning. IPads would help us expand student learning to include more music and more visuals. Many of the learners in our room benefit from repeated exposure to content or differentiated pace and we would be able to personalize learning further with individualized tools like an IPad.
