I did an escape room using the physical lock boxes for an activity regarding deciphering binary numbers back to decimals and vice versa. The students loved it! I also setup one of my classes to do the online portion. It took a while to get it setup with our district for login purposes, but now we are ready to role. Since it is the end of the year, I will get all my classes in and then be ready for the start of next year. So far the feedback is positive and the students are enjoying the challenges of the online puzzles and the in-person escape rooms using the physical boxes. I am excited for next year.","fullyFundedDate":1763599103975,"projectUrl":"project/break-out-with-a-new-way-to-learn/9903766/","projectTitle":"Break Out With a New Way to Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kallianis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp483387_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738334083966","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kallianis"},{"teacherId":483387,"projectId":9204800,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our project for Beebots! The students are absolutely loving them, especially since they don't have to share them and they each get their own!!! Not only are students learning sequential programming, they are learning their left and right, measurements, and how to persevere when their program doesn't go as planned. This is probably the most important skill that they are learning! In computer science, programs rarely work the very first time. So students learn to go step by step and they learn to work through problems, instead of getting frustrated and giving up. That is what computational thinking is all about. We are creating problem solvers for jobs of the future. :) One fun activity we did was the monster map. Students had to code their beebot to get to the picture of the monster they selected on a large poster of various monsters. They loved the maps and the challenge to get it right. For November, I have the book about Macy's Thanksgiving Parade and my goal is to have the students code the parade route and have the Beebots pull the balloons they decorate. I can't wait and the students will love it! Thank you for supplying us with these great robots!","fullyFundedDate":1746586396161,"projectUrl":"project/buzzing-about-coding-and-learning-with-b/9204800/","projectTitle":"Buzzing About Coding And Learning With Beebots","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kallianis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp483387_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y772&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738334083966","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kallianis"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_5282","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":227,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":85,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 7","studentTeacherRatio":"20.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.5,"schoolId":5282,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Poe Classical School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Poe Classical School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/chicago-public-school-district-299/poe-classical-school/5282"}
