Your contribution has provided us with the essential infrastructure needed to provide real world, hands-on lessons to educate our students. Their raised awareness and interest about the havoc caused by CRBs helps to move our mission of increased community awareness and action forward in the larger Pearl City community.\r\nThe materials you provided are already being put to work in the following ways:\r\nSecure Containment: The terrariums have allowed us to establish controlled environments for observing beetle behavior and life cycles in our science classes. \r\nField Protection: The specialized netting is currently being used to safeguard new and vulnerable plants that we are growing, as well as, creating traps to prevent the spread of the beetles into previously uninfested areas.\r\nThe Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle isn't just a pest; it is a significant threat to our ecosystem's biodiversity and our community's food security. The task of controlling them is a daunting task and throughout the years, its spread has devastated many parts of our island home. Our primary goal is to educate the public and minimize the spread of CRB in our Pearl City community.","fullyFundedDate":1759596934572,"projectUrl":"project/beetlemania-save-our-pearl-city-palms/9781670/","projectTitle":"Beetlemania: Save our Pearl City Palms","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kawamura","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8828923"},{"teacherId":9934236,"projectId":9703269,"letterContent":"The printer I received has made a big difference in my classroom by allowing me to print colorful, high-quality materials, especially for my AP Statistics students. \r\n\r\nMany of the concepts we learn during class, such as graphs, data distributions, and data visualizations, are much more impactful when students can clearly see details in color rather than in black and white. \r\n\r\nOverall, the printer has not only brought me convenience but also high-quality copies for my classroom. I went out and bought a TV with my own money because I am deeply passionate about what technology can do for a child's confidence and their future. I've always believed that if I could just get the right tools in front of them, there would be no limit to what they could achieve.\r\n\r\nBut as my classroom grew to 127 students, that original 40-inch screen—the one I was so proud to provide—started to feel like a barrier instead of a bridge.\r\n\r\nIt has been a personal mission of mine to ensure that a student's zip code or household income doesn't dictate their quality of education. More than half of my students come from low-income households, and many are English Learners or Special Education students who rely on every visual cue and closed caption to close the learning gap in reading and writing.\r\n\r\nWatching a student struggle to see a screen that I provided out of my own pocket was a constant reminder of the gap I wanted so badly to close. Because of you, that gap is gone.\r\n\r\nYour donation has transformed our room from a \"make-do\" space into a professional, high-tech environment. By funding this 75-inch display, you are providing:\r\n\r\nTrue Accessibility: No more squinting or leaning out of seats. Every one of my 127 learners now has a crystal-clear view of the lessons.\r\n\r\nCompetitive Edge: You are giving these kids the exposure to technology they need to be competitive in the real world.\r\n\r\nA Message of Worth: You've shown my students that their education is worth a premier investment.\r\n\r\nI am so incredibly moved by your support. I have always been willing to put my own resources on the line for these kids but seeing \"random\" donors join me in this mission is a powerful reminder that my students aren't alone.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping me give them the front-row seat to the future they deserve.\r\n\r\nWith deep gratitude and excitement,","fullyFundedDate":1771738163650,"projectUrl":"project/big-screen-bigger-dreams/10110256/","projectTitle":"Big Screen, Bigger Dreams","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10438789_orig.jpg?crop=2315,2315,x0,y131&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771529578702","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10438789"},{"teacherId":8821499,"projectId":9780872,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity. With 1984 and A Long Way Down in their hands, our classroom has become a space of rich discussion, careful analysis, and meaningful reflection.\r\n\r\nMany of you love to read, and in our classroom, reading goes far beyond simply turning pages. These texts help students practice close reading, annotate for theme and symbolism, analyze author's craft, and engage in evidence-based discussion. They learn to question systems of power, examine perspective, track character development, and make connections between literature and the world around them. We focus heavily on critical thinking—asking not just \"What happened?\" but \"Why does it matter?\" and \"What larger message is the author communicating?\"\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active. Students annotate in the margins, debate respectfully in small groups, write analytical responses, and sometimes pause to reflect silently on moments that feel personal or powerful. There is laughter, disagreement, curiosity, and growth. Students are learning how to support their ideas with evidence and listen thoughtfully to perspectives different from their own—skills that extend far beyond English class.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who don't always see themselves as \"readers\" have been especially engaged. One student shared how *A Long Way Down* felt immediate and real, helping him think differently about choices and consequences. Another student has been captivated by the psychological tension in *1984*, eagerly connecting it to modern ideas about truth and influence. Watching students light up during discussion—when they realize they have something important to say—has been one of the most powerful impacts of your gift.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, these books are not just materials on a shelf. They are tools for strengthening literacy, deepening empathy, and cultivating thoughtful, courageous young leaders. The IRIS bins and mini containers finally give each student a dedicated space for their projects and jewelry supplies, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility. In the past, students struggled to hear the nuances of their sound design over the ambient noise of a busy classroom, leading to frustration and unfinished projects. Now, with the new headphones, they can achieve true auditory isolation, allowing them to master audio levels and pick up on subtle background sounds that make their films feel cinematic. Meanwhile, the hard drive has revolutionized our workflow; instead of constant technical delays and \"disk full\" errors, students are learning the vital industry skill of file management and high-speed data transfer. This technology isn't just a convenience, it's teaching them the professional discipline required to handle large-scale video projects without the fear of losing their hard work.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in the room is palpable whenever a student plugs in the new gear, especially for those who previously felt held back by our older equipment. One student in particular, who used to struggle with the frustration of computer lag and muffled audio, has completely blossomed; they are now the first one in the editing chair every day, meticulously syncing their footage with a level of precision I haven't seen before. The students are most thrilled by the sheer reliability and clarity the new products provide, there is a certain \"magic\" in hearing their own creative vision come to life in high definition for the first time.
