This expansion set added new motors, sensors, and LEGO elements to our existing SPIKE Prime kits, allowing our students to take their robotics projects to the next level.\r\n\r\nHow we're using the resources\r\nOur students are using the expansion set to enhance their FIRST LEGO League robots. For example, they recently built and programmed a robot to navigate more complex obstacle courses using the new sensors and attachments. They worked collaboratively to design, test, and improve their robot's performance, learning through hands-on experimentation and iterative problem-solving.\r\n\r\nStudents' reactions\r\nWhen the expansion set arrived, the students were thrilled! Their excitement was immediate—they eagerly unpacked the new pieces, explored the additional sensors and motors, and brainstormed ways to integrate them into their projects. It was inspiring to watch them jump right in, collaborating and experimenting with energy and curiosity.\r\n\r\nNext steps\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue refining their robots, incorporating the new components, and experimenting with advanced programming techniques. These lessons strengthen not only their STEM skills but also teamwork, critical thinking, and resilience. With your support, students are now able to explore more complex designs, solve bigger challenges, and gain even greater confidence in their abilities.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has given our students the tools to dream bigger, problem-solve creatively, and experience the excitement of hands-on learning in robotics. These kits have brought a brand-new kind of science lab into our school, giving students access to real hands-on tools like motors, sensors, and interactive building elements that they've never used before. \r\n\r\nWe are using the kits every week during science lessons to explore concepts like forces, energy, motion, and engineering design. One unforgettable moment was when students worked in small groups to build and test a motorized model — they were fully engaged for the entire class, talking through their designs, making adjustments, and celebrating when their ideas worked. The collaborative problem-solving and scientific inquiry that came out of this activity was incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nWhen the kits arrived, the excitement was palpable. Students gathered around the boxes, eager to see what was inside, and couldn't wait to start building. Even learners who are normally quiet or hesitant in class were actively participating and showing pride in their creations — it truly energized our learning environment.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, we now have exciting next steps planned. Students will continue using these kits to dive deeper into our current science unit, carrying out more experiments, forming hypotheses, and documenting their results. These activities not only build science knowledge but also teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills — all thanks to the amazing opportunities your contribution has unlocked.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us make science come alive!","fullyFundedDate":1758571914469,"projectUrl":"project/building-young-scientists-with-lego-scie/9498985/","projectTitle":"Building Young Scientists With LEGO Science","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Lovell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8108807_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757674160125","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8108807"},{"teacherId":1548371,"projectId":9747923,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the generous donation of headphones to my class. These items have had an immediate positive impact on teaching and learning for my students. \r\n\r\nWe utilize a reading program designed to support struggling readers by providing audio for over 3000 digital books. Literacy research has proven that audio support can in fact assist in developing strong reading skills. My students were unable to fully access the resources provided in their reading program because the district budget did not allow for the purchase of student headphones.\r\n\r\nAll students in the district receive free breakfast and lunch given the level of poverty within our city. With food insecurity on their minds, it was difficult to ask parents and families to purchase headphones for school. Your generous donation will now permit my students to access audio and improve their reading proficiency. We are so very appreciative of your kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1762267667472,"projectUrl":"project/listening-helps/9747923/","projectTitle":"Listening Helps","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Blue","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1548371_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690912047591","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1548371"},{"teacherId":8108807,"projectId":9785690,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, our FIRST LEGO League team is using LEGO Education SPIKE™ Prime kits to explore robotics, coding, and engineering.
