I have multiplication charts taped to my desks, and every week my students are assigned problems on homework to help break the gap from prior years. Daily students are using these charts as references when solving the most basic problems. The times where I am using the smart board to help focus on learning I feel as though I am not getting to all of my students, whether they are far behind or unengaged. When we can use computers, there are only a few in our Media Center and it is shared with the entire school (over 1, 200 kids). It can become very hard to progress monitor mathematical fluency when scheduling around all the other schedules in the building. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to simply focus on their own learning. Plus in this technology literate world, any interaction with updated technology will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn and use the new technology! Although 6 laptops is not enough for an entire class, it would give us a chance to reinforce skills that students might be struggling to grasp. Please help us enhance the way we learn by allowing us to turn our class into a 21st century classroom.
