My students attend an urban school and many face adversity daily dealing with crime and poverty that plague the nation's cities. My students deal with such issues with grace and perseverance. My school was considered as low performing, and has been labeled a "turnaround school" under state and federal reform. With school change in mind, my students work hard to improve their literacy skills by becoming more proficient writers. They deserve to see their work in print.
