With the TPT gift card I was able to purchase and modify to my classroom needs a really fun and creative math project - Building a City. In this project students were required to create a 2d blueprint of a city. They were required to find the area of each building, all the roads, and green space. Then the students turned their blueprint into a 3d model. They were required to find the surface area of each building. Lastly, they had to decorate and name their city. \r\nIt was so much fun watching the students use their creative talents in the math environment. I think they really enjoyed showcasing their math skills through art instead of just completing word problem worksheets. The best part was dispaying the projects during out school's showcase and watching each student desribe their process to family members. What a fun way this was for students to learn about area and surface area in the real world. \r\nWe could not have done it without your support so thank you very much!","fullyFundedDate":1755885816358,"projectUrl":"project/i-am-not-a-math-person/9599088/","projectTitle":"I Am Not a Math Person","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vigilante","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp129393_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y765&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1631849565650","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/129393"},{"teacherId":54772,"projectId":9600311,"letterContent":"Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) is an excellent resource for busy teachers like myself. Thanks to your donation to support my grant, \"Teacher Knows Best: We Love Resources Created by Other Teachers\", I am able to supplement my curriculum with creative, engaging materials. These materials are designed to help students receive standards-based instruction without using boring, out-of-date textbooks.\r\n\r\nOne of the ways I used my gift card was to purchase materials that I could print out and use to supplement my writing and social studies curricula. Every day we start with a grammar bellringer about a different celebration. Each passage contains five mistakes. The students must identify and correct mistakes in grammar, spelling, capitalization, and usage. Then we discuss the rules behind these corrections. I also enjoy using creative resources for our notebooks such as printables that can supplement the history lessons. For example, students are writing a journal entry from the point of view of Native Americans at the time European colonists arrived in the new world.\r\n\r\nThe great thing about TPT is that once something is downloaded, it's yours to use as many times as you like. There are no yearly subscriptions required. I am attaching screenshots of the materials that students were able to use.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for generously donating to fund this amazing grant. Glue sponges are a life-saver. You are probably wondering what exactly a glue sponge is. Quite simply, a glue sponge is a plastic container containing a basic kitchen sponge that has absorbed approximately two ounces of glue. \r\n\r\nWe use them almost every day during all of the classes I teach. They are great for gluing any papers into our interactive notebooks in ELA, Civics, and Advisory classes. Glue sticks do not provide the adhesion needed long-term for these important guided notes and other papers that students will need well into the future. Using bottles of glue with middle school students is a disaster, as I'm sure you can imagine. That's why glue sponges come to the rescue. Students learn that they just tap the corner of each paper on the sponge before attaching it inside their notebooks. Viola! Papers will have just the right amount of glue and their hands and desks stay clean!\r\n\r\nYour help allowed me to purchase sponges, bottles of glue, and really nice, reusable storage containers that should last for many years.
