I am able to bring experiences to the school that go above what we normally could. \r\n\r\nThe students were so excited to see the buzzers. When I brought them out, they questioned what we would use them for or how they would work. Each table received a buzzer, and we were able to use questions we were studying and turn it into a review game. When the students see normal worksheets, I can see their eyes roll or get dull, because they are bored. But when I pulled out the buzzers, their eyes lit up, and they were engaged!\r\n\r\nThank you for bringing this experience to my room! It means so much to me and the students! The granola bars and fruit roll ups, help keep their tummies satiated until lunch time. When a student comes in hungry, because they didn't have a chance to eat breakfast, I love that I can offer them a granola bar. Thank you for letting the legacy reach my kids! Sadly, when the funding came through, I couldn't find any copies of Anne Frank to purchase. However, our US History class also reads the CliffsNotes version of \"The Jungle\" by Upton Sinclair. After talking with the other English 9 teacher and the US History teachers, we decided to use this money to purchase copies of the CliffsNotes for \"The Jungle\". We have used them in English class (while they use the digital version in US History. \r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, we have these paper copies, so we can keep our kids off electronics and get actual books into their hands. As students read from the CliffsNotes version of the book, they are focusing on key events and problems, what they learn about Jurgis and society, and what the mood is in that chapter. \r\n\r\nThrough this unit, we are also focused on creating Adaptable Communicators, Collaborator and Relationship Builders, and Persistent Professionals--all parts of Muskegon High School's Portrait of a Graduate. As you will see in the pictures, I am not able to help my students stay organized and not waste class time looking for their notebook. \r\n\r\nWhen students enter my classroom, instead of digging through a pile of 25+ notebooks looking for theirs, they are able to simply take their basket and they have their notebooks. Not only that, but I am able to provide glue sticks, highlighters, and pencils in the baskets, which helps to minimize distractions and being asked for a pencil 100x times a day!\r\n\r\nThese baskets have not only give my students a place to keep their notebook and to get necessary supplies, but I have been able to color-code turn in bins based on their notebook colors. We used the markers to create a giant Calavera puzzle where students had to work together and communicate about the colors they would use in Spanish. After learning about the traditions celebrating loved ones, the students wrote a memory of their loved one and then decorated a butterfly with our new markers. \r\nDuring our numbers unit, the students wrote the numbers on their flashcards. They have been using them every class to study for our test. They were excited to have ring binders in different colors to choose from, and I was excited that they got to practice asking for their favorite colors. \r\nThe Eggspert game has been so fun! My students love playing competitive games but figuring out answered first has been difficult. This takes all of the ambiguity away as the first group to press the button has their corresponding color light up. We are a one-to-one district which means every student has their own computer to take home and use at school. Almost all of their work is done on their computers, and they are using them every day.\r\n The area of the computer keypad that controls the mouse pointer is often difficult to utilize. Without a separate mouse, the students can get frustrated with the process. Once the wireless mouse is attached, work can be done with ease and more accuracy. What a difference something so small can make!\r\n My students and I want to express our deepest gratitude for your help with this situation.
