Even with the constant struggles that come along with poverty, my students are an incredibly resilient bunch. I teach 9th graders who need extra help in reading. We believe that in order to make sure these kids can be successful in life, it is our job to try to catch them up as much as possible before it becomes too difficult for them to finish high school on time.
