They spark imagination, build language, and open the door to lifelong learning. For many of my students, school is one of the few places where they have consistent access to books. Because of your kindness, my students now have opportunities to explore stories that excite them, reflect their experiences, and help them discover new worlds. \r\n\r\nA reluctant reader becomes curious. A shy student eagerly raises their hand to talk about a character. Small voices grow confident as children begin to see themselves as readers. Your support is helping build not only literacy skills, but also confidence, joy, and a love of learning.\r\nThese books will be treasured in our classroom and will support students as they practice important early reading skills such as listening, vocabulary development, comprehension, and storytelling. We read the book Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. They learned about what makes a poem a poem and why writers write. The students were excited to write their own shape poem like the character Jack in the book. I made them stand out by backing them with the bright paper on the bulletin board. I'm able to laminate a lot of supplemental materials for the students to use hands-on like bookmarks during independent reading. They use their yellow highlighters to cite evidence and the pocket folders are used to keep their materials organized. \r\n\r\nOur next steps will be to use our great donations during our project on animal behaviors and defense mechanisms. To date, I have not been able to locate them, despite several enquiries after the building was reopened. I am confident that if they had been delivered to me, my students would have benefited from your kind intentions.
