When my students arrive in the classroom it is imperative that they feel like they belong and that they matter. There is no better way to show them that I believe in their ability to succeed than being able to provide them with the materials that they need in order to achieve. These children will not need to carry the burden of financial worries with them during each lesson. Providing students with materials they can use individually helps to build autonomy and allows them to take charge of their own learning. Organizing drawers will help us to streamline our group work and help us ensure consistent organization. Map shower curtains and a globe will help flesh out our social studies curriculum and develop context for literacy while providing continuous engagement with these materials throughout the school year.
