Through The Wild Robot, students are practicing close reading, making inferences, and discussing big ideas like survival, technology, and caring for the environment. I Survived the American Revolution helps students strengthen comprehension while also learning how historical fiction blends real events with storytelling, allowing them to better understand history from a child's point of view.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and collaborative. Students read independently, listen to read-alouds, and participate in thoughtful discussions with their classmates. We pause to ask questions, make predictions, and share connections, helping students learn that reading is not just about finishing a book, but about thinking deeply and sharing ideas.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously reluctant readers are especially excited about these books. The fast-paced chapters and relatable characters have helped them stay engaged and confident, and many students are asking to read ahead or talk about the stories during free time. Because of your generosity, every student feels included and empowered as a reader. Using CAD software, they've learned to build 3D models from code blocks—combining logic, geometry, and creativity. Their very first project was a linear leaf design, symbolizing growth and new beginnings, and the excitement in the room was electric as they watched their virtual leaves transform into real, tangible prints.\r\n\r\nStudents are now confidently downloading, converting, and preparing their own digital designs for printing. Each step—from coding to slicing to watching the printer layer their creation—teaches patience, precision, and problem-solving. Even students who were hesitant with technology are now eager to explore new tools and ask thoughtful questions about how code becomes form.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just bring us 3D printers; it brought learning to life. They laugh when we try to squeeze in a small chair!
