It's hard to believe that we are so far into the year. My 9th graders have transitioned extremely well -- they seem to know who to go to for support, that asking questions shows strength and curiosity, and they've accepted the fact that I don't give out candy before 11am and after they've told me one healthy thing that they've eaten. My 12th graders are fully focused on college apps and getting back on track in time for graduation. They know the classroom norms and take advantage of snacks at a more rationed pace haha. While I don't work with 10th or 11th graders in the classroom, they still pop by to say hi, let me know how they're doing, and ask for a snack. Our students surprise me every day with their curiosity and their love for learning. They help others when in need and it's beautiful to see them make connections that will support them throughout high school and hopefully beyond.\r\n\r\nWhen my students came in and saw all of the snacks that had been provided by you all, they were ecstatic! \"Woah! Your room is like a grocery store!\" was my favorite exclamation from a student. For the most part, they have been very respectful about taking one and leaving enough for other students.\r\n\r\nOn a few occasions, I've even been able to use these snacks as leverage for students showing up to school on time. So they swing by to say hi to me in the morning as a \"check in\" and then grab a snack (their \"reward\") and then head to their first class.\r\n\r\nThese snacks seem so small or insignificant, but they've made such a huge impact on my students, helping them feel energized and ready for class!","fullyFundedDate":1760534059965,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-our-students/9575885/","projectTitle":"Snacks for Our Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kwan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10169405"},{"teacherId":495963,"projectId":9587106,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping us get a refrigerator for our classroom! Because of your donations, every student in my art classes at Mission High School now has their own sketchbook. This simple but powerful tool has become a meaningful part of our classroom routine. Each Friday, we end the week with a calming sketchbook practice — a quiet time for students to draw, reflect, and unwind after busy days. It's quickly become one of our favorite rituals, a space for creativity and mindfulness to meet.\r\n\r\nOur more advanced students have also taken their sketchbooks beyond the classroom, sketching from life in Dolores Park. These outdoor sessions have encouraged observation, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the world around them. Whether they're capturing the movement of people, the texture of trees, or the feeling of the city itself, students are learning to see and express with fresh eyes.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has made this possible.
