For example, when practicing letter recognition or counting skills, students can hear correct pronunciations, see animations, and try again without fear of making mistakes. This builds both academic skills and confidence. It also allows me to differentiate instruction more easily, meeting students at their individual learning levels.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the interactive nature of the new product. They love being able to touch, respond, and actively participate rather than just watch. The combination of movement, sound, and colorful visuals captures their attention and keeps them engaged for longer periods of time. For many of them, it feels like play — but they are building critical early learning skills the entire time.\r\n\r\nI've especially seen growth in some of my quieter and more hesitant learners. A few students who are typically reluctant to participate in whole-group activities have really warmed up to using the technology. The immediate, private feedback allows them to take risks without worrying about getting the \"wrong\" answer in front of peers. Students also choose to use the privacy shields when they want to eliminate distractions so that they can remain focused on their assignments, projects, or other tasks.\r\n\r\nThe floor chairs and lap desks are wonderful in giving students options to work in our classroom other than traditional seating at desks. Storage of the desks and chairs which can be laid flat make it easy for us to store them away when we need more floor space. This flexibility has increased engagement, improved focus, and given students a sense of choice in their learning space. Students were excited when the floor desks made an appearance in the classroom.\r\n\r\nOur visual timer has helped students better understand and manage their time. Being able to clearly see how much time remains for an activity or assignment has reduced anxiety, improved transitions, and encouraged students to stay on task and complete their work more efficiently.\r\n\r\nProviding snacks for students has also had a positive impact. When students have access to a quick snack, they are better able to concentrate, participate actively, and regulate their emotions. Meeting basic needs helps ensure that all students are ready to learn. The snacks have been a favorite among the class and they love the variety!\r\n\r\nFinally, tickets for incentives and positive behavior have strengthened our classroom community. This system encourages responsibility, kindness, and positive choices. Students are motivated to meet expectations, and celebrating their successes has created a more encouraging and supportive classroom environment. They love using their tickets to redeem \"lunch bunch\" and spending time with friends who may be in our class or other 5th grade classes.\r\n\r\nTogether, these supplies have helped create a focused, flexible, and positive learning space where all students can thrive. They especially enjoy being able to quickly grab dry erase markers during group work and class discussions without having to wait or search for supplies. These small changes really help cut down on transition time and keep learning moving.\r\n\r\nAs we continue working on group projects and daily lessons, these tools will help students stay organized and take more ownership of their learning. One of the most meaningful moments was watching a student who typically struggles with staying seated independently choose a yoga ball chair and successfully complete their work with confidence and pride.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate—many smiled, asked questions, and eagerly explored the sensory tools in a respectful and purposeful way. These resources have already helped increase engagement, reduce anxiety, and support positive behavior throughout the day. Our next steps include continuing to build structured routines using the visual timers and reward systems while integrating hands-on learning with tools like dry-erase charts and writing tablets. Even students who are usually shy stand a little taller knowing they're being recorded. Afterward, they love watching their videos, cheering for their classmates, and noticing how much they've grown. It turns presentations into a celebration instead of something to be nervous about.\r\n\r\nCreating a yearbook together brings our classroom community even closer. The seat cushions and SoftZone folding floor mats have quickly become favorite spots for independent reading, reflection breaks, and small-group work. One memorable moment was during reading time, when a student who often struggles to stay regulated chose a floor mat, grabbed a sensory disc, and quietly practiced breathing until they felt ready to rejoin the group. The visual timers and \"Take a Break\" rug help students understand how long they have to reset, which has made transitions smoother and more respectful of their emotional needs.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They immediately noticed the colorful cushions, sensory tools, and calming visuals and asked thoughtful questions about how and when they could use them. The mindfulness breathing book has become a class favorite — students regularly request it during calm-down time, and many now model breathing strategies independently after practicing together as a class. Tools like the liquid motion bubblers, worry stones, and fidgets give students safe, quiet ways to regulate their emotions and stay engaged in learning.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue using these resources as part of our ongoing social-emotional learning lessons and project-based activities. The glue sticks and art supplies are already being used for student projects connected to reading and reflection, allowing students to creatively express their thinking while practicing focus and fine motor skills.
