Because of you, our young learners now have a warm, welcoming carpet for large group learning and circle-time activities, as well as sturdy metal shelving units that are already transforming how we organize and access our materials during our school's building addition transition.\r\n\r\nOur new classroom carpet has quickly become the heart of our room. Each morning, children excitedly find their spots for morning meeting, story time, songs, and shared discussions. For many of them, this is their first formal school experience, and having a designated, cozy space helps them feel grounded, secure, and ready to learn. We have already noticed stronger participation, calmer transitions, and increased engagement during whole-group activities.\r\n\r\nThe metal shelving units have had an equally meaningful impact. With our school undergoing construction, storage has been a major challenge. Because of your contribution, we now have a safe and efficient way to store learning materials, centers, manipulatives, instructional tools, and supplies. This organization allows the classroom to run more smoothly and ensures that the learning environment remains accessible and inviting despite the temporary disruptions.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has given our students stability during a time of change, comfort during learning, and a sense of pride in their classroom community. These resources will continue to benefit them long after construction is finished and will support hundreds of future Pre-K learners.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for making a real difference in their daily learning experience. Your donations helped fuel a classroom of students who have the materials and resources they need to succeed in math. From colored construction paper being used to model equivalent fractions, to Percy Jackson books students beg to read once they finish their problem set, I couldn't have done it without you all. And who could forget about the pencils?! My fellow teachers were right; students chew through pencils. Each student now has plenty of pencils, a colored folder for every class, and much more.\r\n \r\nAs part of our Strong Start every morning, we're talking about gratefulness on our way to Thanksgiving. I told them how grateful I was to have such generous strangers donate out of the kindness of their hearts to create a classroom where we can truly focus on learning. All of the pencils we have to sharpen, anchor charts we create to help us grasp a concept, none of it would be possible without our donors. I really can't say enough thank-yous. The look on my students' faces when they saw me unbox the entire Dog Man series for them was priceless. My artistic students love coming up to my desk when they're done with their work to use the art supplies (sharpies, glue sticks, paper,)which you have provided us. \r\n\r\nIt's been a blast coming up with creative ways to use the classroom supplies to teach math. As I said, the construction paper was a great way to model equivalent fractions. The large paper for anchor charts has been invaluable for test prep and student understanding. During this module, I have been learning powerful strategies from courses like Trauma-Informed Teaching, Emotional Intelligence and Belonging, Mental Health in Schools, and Chair Yoga in Schools. Each class has given me new perspectives on how to help young children feel emotionally safe, academically engaged, and connected to one another. One of the biggest highlights for me has been learning practical ways to create a classroom culture rooted in belonging, where every student feels seen, valued, and supported by following the 7 principles of Trauma-Informed Teaching:\r\n\r\n1. Offer Clear Context and Framing,\r\n2. Create Reliability & Consistency,\r\n3. Use Invitational Language,\r\n4. Provide Options,\r\n5. Honor Choice and Voice,\r\n6. Listen and Respond Mindfully, and\r\n7. Close Out with Intention.\r\n\r\nThroughout this module, I have been learning specific tools that I've already started integrating into my daily practice. Strategies like the \"Peace Process,\" \"Two-Word Check-In,\" \"The Three Zones of Learning,\" \"Loving-Kindness Meditation,\" \"Appreciation Station,\" and various breathing and mindful movement routines have supported both my students' mental health and my own. I have also been learning new chair yoga sequences that are developmentally appropriate for young learners, and we've begun using them after transitions to help students reset their bodies and minds. These small, consistent practices have made a meaningful difference in helping my students regulate their emotions, communicate clearly, and feel more confident during learning.\r\n\r\nThis experience has strengthened my teaching, my leadership, and the sense of community in our classroom. Because of you, I am growing as an educator in ways that immediately and directly benefit my students. Your generosity didn't just support my professional development—it helped my kindergarteners build essential skills for well-being, emotional regulation, and kindness. We've been using the materials during our morning meetings and after transitions, and the impact has been clear. Students love choosing a yoga card to guide our movement breaks, and the breathing balls have become one of their favorite tools for calming big feelings. We've also been integrating our yoga books and yoga cards into our ELA routines, including phonics and literacy. In addition, we've had monthly yoga sessions, and having the mats has made it much easier for all students to fully participate.\r\n\r\nThe fidget toys have also been incredibly helpful in supporting students' attention during my Guided Reading lessons in Needs-Based Small Groups. They love using the squishy balls as part of our phonological awareness and phonics routines. For example, they use the balls to \"smash\" the letter that represents the sound I dictate, or to tap and smash each sound as they segment the phonemes in a word. Reading CVC words has become so fun with these fidget materials!\r\n\r\nAs we continue building this practice throughout the year, these resources will support our ongoing work in emotional regulation, focus, and community building.
