I have also been learning new chair yoga sequences that are developmentally appropriate for young learners, and we've begun using them after transitions to help students reset their bodies and minds. These small, consistent practices have made a meaningful difference in helping my students regulate their emotions, communicate clearly, and feel more confident during learning.\r\n\r\nThis experience has strengthened my teaching, my leadership, and the sense of community in our classroom. Students love choosing a yoga card to guide our movement breaks, and the breathing balls have become one of their favorite tools for calming big feelings. We've also been integrating our yoga books and yoga cards into our ELA routines, including phonics and literacy. In addition, we've had monthly yoga sessions, and having the mats has made it much easier for all students to fully participate.\r\n\r\nThe fidget toys have also been incredibly helpful in supporting students' attention during my Guided Reading lessons in Needs-Based Small Groups. They love using the squishy balls as part of our phonological awareness and phonics routines. For example, they use the balls to \"smash\" the letter that represents the sound I dictate, or to tap and smash each sound as they segment the phonemes in a word.
