Our school has more than 500 students between the ages of 3 and 12 years old, enrolled in both general education and self-contained special education classes. There are 5 self-contained classrooms with curriculum to support children with developmental delay, Autism spectrum disorder, and intellectual disabilities, among others. Both push-in and pull-out special education services are used to support children in accessing their education, with OT, PT, and Speech therapy available to be provided in a separate therapy classroom. Therapists have access to sensory-motor equipment with floor mats, as well as a small table for seated tasks. Materials and manipulatives are many times funded by therapists' personal budgets, with creative and resourceful use for craft and art projects. Students are generally easily to engage using behavioral and multi-sensory strategies and adaptations.
