The third grade social studies curriculum is designed to expose students to a world larger than theirs and to educate global citizens. We are currently studying neighborhoods and communities around us and what better way to show how diverse this world is than to teach my students about different countries across the world. I would like to use the atlases in small group center activities, independent reading opportunities and for research projects in class. Currently, students have access to the United States maps but I would love to add the atlases to increase their exposure to countries they've never heard of.
