They were especially thrilled with having earphones that fit their ears. The tablets seemed magical as they practiced their letters and sight words, and could erase them with a touch of a button. The children had opportunities to create and build with the magnetic blocks and \"flakes.\" \r\n\r\nBecause we received the materials close to the end of the last school year, I've been able to introduce the learning materials to my new class of kindergartners this year as well. I unboxed the items and placed them on the students' tables to surprise them in the morning upon their arrival. As you can hopefully see from the photos, the children LOVED their new STEM tools. They worked collaboratively to build things together. They explored different ways to assemble the tools and came up with some interesting creations. It was delightful to see how they were able to bounce ideas off of each other and spread their excitement to their table-team. \r\nThe next morning, the items were rotated to a new table, and the adventures began anew. Students enjoy being able to see the books I read on the iPad stand to project on my iPad. The children helped with the unpacking of the materials, and it felt just like Christmas morning, there was so much excitement.\r\nWe put the foot stompers to immediate use. Initially we had to set some expectations that these were tools to help get our wiggles out, not to make a ruckus. The children became pros in managing their own behaviors with this tool, and they even got into the routine of picking them up before the custodial team came through.\r\nThe Legos were, of course, a HUGE hit, and became a favorite during inside recess days. The children learned to navigate sharing the Legos AND, an unanticipated hurdle, they also learned to be okay with someone taking apart their creation.\r\nThe 100's game boards were such an incredible tool for cementing the students' number sense abilities. Skip counting, sorting by groups of ten, etc. were easy to practice. The children didn't even realize they were learning. So sneaky! It was very satisfying to listen to the mathematical conversations that were buzzing at each table.\r\nThank you for looking out for our students!
