In my classroom I have 32 kids in the morning and then another 32 kids in the afternoon. If we had these storage cubbies for each child they would have a place that is their own to store their books, writing papers, pencils, crayons etc. With the kids having 2 classes they sometimes don't feel an ownership to anything. This would give them the chance to have this feeling of belonging. Because we trade classes the kids have to come in and trade out the other persons box and then get their own box. Their stuff falls out and gets lost which is very frustrating to them. This also adds extra time from teaching to locate each child's things to begin the day. It also takes a lot of extra time to do this which takes from the precious time I have to teach them. By having these storage bins this would lessen the time to transition from one class to another, which would mean more time for me to teach. Every minute in a DLI classroom is very valuable because the time is already shortened. Please help us find everyone a home for their personal school supplies and books.
